This section provided its own challenges with potholes, a grass track and muddy puddles dotted along the route just to keep the concentration levels high! The first two kilometres were into a brisk and chilly wind along a long straight stretch of road with some notable undulations providing a challenging start for the legs! With Michael out injured this year there was going to be a new winner and it was Joe Cawley Sli Cualann who stormed home to win in Athenry AC were very well represented in Kinvara and not just with runners. Athenry AC's Jane-Ann Meehan had to pull out with a cold but she would certainly have been in the mix here and has vowed to "kick ass next year!

The half-marathon course brought the runners out onto a beautiful scenic course in the Burren with several long straight and relatively flat sections albeit somewhat windswept in places.

Kinvara Rock and Road Race Report Galway City Harriers
Out of a total field of only 12 finished ahead of her!
The weather forecast had not been great for the event and there was a The 10k race was first (starting 10 minutes before the half-marathon).

Thanks also to Frank Burke who, even though he had to pull out of pacing duties with a bad back, still came along and helped keep the show on the road.
